Hopefully, someone (possibly even Scout) will create an accessory range extender battery pack for the Scout in the future. That way, we can hit the trails without fear of running out of juice and go further. It would be similar to having an electric jerry can, just as we have jerry fuel cans.

I hope so too man, having a back up is really important for unexpected situations. as of the moment I didn't hear any news that Volkswagen Scout EV is developing range extenders, but im still hopeful that Volkswagen will listen to the request of the people and create this accessory to extend the usage, range and other factors that would help customers utilize the car more.

I agree that bringing a generator kind of defeats the purpose of an EV. If you're going to have to carry fuel anyway, you might as well get a gas-powered vehicle.

That being said, I still think a swappable battery system could be a great option for people who need to take long road trips. I've been thinking about getting a generator to take with me on trips, too. I've heard good things about Yamaha and Honda generators. I'm not sure which one I would choose, but I'll definitely do some more research.

I know I read something a while ago about the Optima Power Station battery trailers. But I haven't heard anything else since then.
